Amanda Byrd is a lawyer, consultant, and HRPA accredited workplace investigator with specialized experience in public inquiries, regulatory matters, and organizational governance. They are a graduate of Columbia University (M.A.) and Osgoode Hall Law School (J.D.) and were called to the Ontario Bar in 2020, where they remain a member in good standing. Their practice integrates legal analysis, research, teaching, and fact-driven inquiry across formal and creative environments.
Amanda has served as Commission Counsel to the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission, Staff Lawyer to Ontario’s Long-Term Care COVID-19 Commission, and Junior Legal Analyst to the Collingwood Judicial Inquiry. Their work has included complex factual reconstruction, policy analysis, research, and drafting for final reports and foundational documents, as well as representation and advisory roles for families and parties with standing. They have published and contributed to multiple commission reports and academic works spanning law, governance, and culture.
In addition to their legal work, Amanda has a background in education and curriculum development, including graduate-level research and teaching fellowships at Columbia University focused on pedagogy, diversity, and critical learning practices.
